Challenging Chishui Solo Bamboo Drifting, Completing His Kung Fu Dream
As a distinguished young representative of Morocco, HOUCINE ZRAIDI has always been committed to promoting cultural exchanges between Morocco and China and has dreams of becoming a diplomat. During his stay in China, besides learning Chinese, he has a passion for Chinese Kung Fu and actively involved in various sports related activities. When he saw the video of Guizhou’s “Water Lightning” Dobutsu floating on the internet media, he immediately went to Chishui, Guizhou with a “Kung Fu dream” to find the heir of Dobutsu floating and determined to learn this unique skill.
Being tall, HOUCINE ZRAIDI was faced with a huge challenge – could he stand on the slim bamboo strip and successfully float on the water? This was a test of his body’s balance and control limits. This challenge was not only a test of his physical ability and skills, but also a test of my courage and perseverance.
However, whether HOUCINE ZRAIDI succeeded or not, this challenge and learning process was undoubtedly unforgettable for him. He deeply realized that dobutsu rafting is not only a sport, but also a combination of Guizhou region and water culture. Dobutsu rafting has been passed down from generation to generation, witnessing the close connection between the local people and water in Chishui, Guizhou. Through learning dobutsu, he not only learned a skill, but also deepened his cultural understanding of Guizhou and his respect for water culture.
HOUCINE ZRAIDI thinks his journey of learning the art is just a microcosm of many foreign young people’s integration into Chinese culture. With the broadcast of the program, more young foreigners will be attracted to Guizhou to learn this unique skill. This will promote the further development of cross-cultural exchange and friendship, and allow more people to understand and appreciate the Dushu floating culture of Guizhou. As a cultural ambassador, he will do my best to introduce Guizhou’s Dobutsu floating to more people and promote cultural exchange and integration between different countries.
In this era of interconnectedness, cultural exchanges between different countries are becoming more frequent and closer. As a young foreigner, he is fortunate to be able to immerse himself in Chinese culture, learn and participate in the heritage of Guizhou Dushu floating. It was a precious experience and part of the realization of my dream of cultural exchange.
