In Snow Girls: The Picture Book by Irene  Petrucci, Charlotte and her two sisters, Katy and Lacey, love having fun together. They enjoy ice skating, making snow angels, and having snowball fights. They love their mother very much, and their father always dresses up as Santa at Christmas. This year for Christmas the girls got sleds of different colors for each girl. Their mother loves taking the girls ice skating at the rink. Katy and Lacey know how to skate, but Charlotte is still learning. When she falls down, they are always there to help her back up. Skating is followed by trying out their new sleds and then pizza for Saturday’s dinner. Sometimes they see their friend Sharron at the pizza restaurant. Charlotte then goes on to explain how their friend was injured once when she went sledding with them but is all better now. At night Charlotte loves talking to her mom and having pillow fights with her sisters, and right before bed, having a story read to her.

I think Irene  Petrucci did a fantastic job with writing Snow Girls. The characters are adorable and likable, and they are very relatable to the child reader. It’s a fun list of winter activities and I found myself nostalgic in reading about them. The sisters have a strong bond and they are there for one another, which teaches the child reader that bonds with family and friends are important. The illustrations are really well done and go perfectly with the story itself. I was surprised by and enjoyed that the little story Charlotte’s mother read to her was located at the end of the book. I thought the coloring pages were a great idea and would definitely help with the child’s focus on the story. Overall, I think it’s a great book for kids.”
