Just A Girl Announces Inaugural Global Inclusivity Advisory Board

September 10 02:06 2020
The all-womxn board is redefining what it means to be a leader in a changing world.

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN – September 9, 2020 – Just A Girl is thrilled to announce its inaugural global Inclusivity Advisory Board (IAB), comprised of 37 dynamic womxn from varying backgrounds and experiences, living on four continents.

The company’s mission is to use technology to foster inclusive mental health and womxn’s empowerment efforts globally. This means honoring and amplifying the voices of womxn of different races, ages, identities, backgrounds, abilities and beliefs in all corners of the world. This mission is sacred and important – something Just A Girl never wants to lose sight of. The IAB was formed to hold the company accountable to this mission.

The IAB is a collaborative, supportive, creative and fierce group of people. Members are diverse, intersectional and representative of the tapestry of womxn globally. In addition to supporting the work of Just A Girl, holding the company to the highest standards, members will work together to advocate for equity, inclusion and empowerment worldwide.

“We’re at the beginning of an equity and inclusion revolution, hundreds of years in the making,” said Kirsten Helgeson, Founder and CEO, Just A Girl. “These challenging times call each of us to break down the systems of patriarchy, privilege and oppression around us. They call us to create new ways of thinking, collaborating and creating. At Just A Girl, we’re leaning into the discomfort of change and using it as a tool to build a better world for everyone. It’s with this audacious hope that we formed the Inclusivity Advisory Board. We’re so excited to begin working with the board to step up our work and demonstrate the power of womxn in positions of leadership working together.”

In keeping with the company’s tagline “You’re So Much More Than Just A Girl,” the Inclusivity Advisory Board is diverse and intersectional. Of the 37 board members, 29 are BIWOC (Black, Indigenous and Womxn of Color). The board also has strong representation from within the LGBTQIA+ community. Members celebrate their neurodiversity, differing abilities, varying cultural experiences and broad areas of expertise. Just A Girl LLC uses technology to foster inclusive mental health and womxn’s empowerment efforts globally. Our goal is simple: elevate our emotions, experiences and voices as womxn. Our work has two streams: Support & Solutions. Our Support initiatives focus on building community. We do that by holding safe space for the difficult, as well as the beautiful, aspects of our lives as womxn (knowing that both often exist at the same time). This includes our podcasting and on-demand radio programs as well as the Just A Girl online forum. Our Solutions initiatives focus on driving meaningful action for individuals, communities and companies. We do that by crafting ways for people to learn, grow and dismantle systems of patriarchy and oppression around them. This includes trainings, classes, tech for good, data for good and consulting.
