DecoExchange “Crafts-for-a-Cause Crafting Challenge” Benefits Hurricane Laura Families.

Chalmette, LA, USA – October 8, 2020 – DecoExchange hosted a four-day class at the beginning of September to raise money for families affected by Hurricane Laura. Cofounder Damon Oates is from that area and felt compelled to do something to make a difference. The class taught participants how to make a Christmas tree topper and had 2,371 signups. Of those signups, 1,507 people gave additional donations. DecoExchange raised over $50,000 to feed over 5,000 people that were out of power, had no groceries, and no electricity at the close of the challenge.

“We can’t fix the world by ourselves, but if we inspire five people to do something good – those people will go out and inspire others,” says Cofounder, Parker Stelly. “One of the core values of our business is that we use our influence, knowledge, and community to impact the world positively.”

The success of the September challenge kept the crafting duo motivated to create another challenge: The Mantle Madness is a play on the word mantel – to carry the burden, and the shelf above the fireplace. The two-day Mantel Madness Challenge will teach crafters how to decorate a fireplace mantel, tablescape, and other common spaces for decorations.

DecoExchange will use the money raised for the annual DecoExchange Christmas blessings project. The team buys, wraps, and donates gifts and essential items to women’s shelters, retirement homes, homeless shelters, and other organizations benefiting battered women and children.
